Latest Travel Updates for Portugal

Due to the positive evolution of the epidemiological situation in Portugal, it was declared that from the 23rd April the use of masks indoors is no longer mandatory in Portugal.

The Portuguese health minister, Marta Temido confirmed that “the conditions for the use of the mask stops being obligatory” with a few exceptions. Mask wearing is still required in spaces with vulnerable people including hospitals and retirement homes, in densely-packed areas that are difficult to ventilate, as well as when using public transport. Masks will still be required when travelling in taxis and Ubers. However, students are no longer required to wear masks in schools.

Portugal travel guidelines have also been updated. Passenger Locator Forms for entry into Portugal have now been revoked. Therefore if you are arriving by sea or air into Portugal, you will no longer be required to present the form when boarding.

You will still be required to present a valid EU Digital Covid Certificate, a valid test or recovery certificate, a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before boarding or a negative Laboratorial Rapid Antigen test taken 24 hours before boarding.

Children under the age of 12 still do not need to present a Digital Covid Certificate or a negative test.

As the situation evolves and travel rules are continually updated, we always advise to check the official Portuguese travel guidance before travel to Portugal, which you can view here.
